    • I got a total of 27 bags of popcorn and pop. Watched a couple of movies with friends and had passed r2d2 to them to get their free popcorn and pop. In all, worth it. Became a superstar at work sharing my haul. And yes, my tongue’s DNA changed from the loads of sodium. It was so dehydrated. At least the sugar from the pop offset it.

    • Anyone having issues with the holiday gift card vouchers? I had three packs. One had the January theatre admission already redeemed and another had a popcorn voucher already redeemed. Both separate theatres nowhere near me.

      Cineplex customer service says tough luck. They’re redeemed and can’t do anything.

      The first few times I had to teach the employees at the theater about the promo but now they know when they see me I am there for a refill and they just fill a bag and cup for me
      I have gone in almost 10 times so far and should be clear 25 times total for the promo. so money well spent for team popcorn and sometimes I refill it twice or top up if the popcorn is gone before I go home.

      After my one early hassle experience back in December, I've gotten 10 refills since, at various locations, never any arguments or trouble. Sometimes they offer a large bag, always a large cup. A couple times they didnt charge for butter.

      Dunno why some people here cant see the hot deal. The regular price for popcorn and drink combos is already over like $13 or maybe higher...sucker prices, now that I've been spoiled with this deal.
      As long as you (or in my case me, my wife and kid) love theater quality popcorn, this thing basically paid off and then some. Coupled with the Holiday gift bundle (with free movie and popcorn vouchers) I got with the $50 gift card purchase, I basically made money on this R2D2.

Only thing I find funny is they can't decide which size to give me. One time it's medium popcorn and medium soda. Next time it's large. Sometimes it's been medium and large. Oh well...still 19 days left in January. I figure if I hit 20 that'll be good enough.
      Same here; no hassle the times I did refill. For me the soda is always a medium, but the popcorn jumps between regular or large as you mentioned. Possibly varies depending on how busy they are. Yesterday it was completely dead inside the theatre and they handed me regular for the first time. Guess it was a slow night, so they made less and were saving the supply for the scant few moviegoers who might wander by concessions. NBD since the chances of polishing off a theatre portion of popcorn by myself and not wanting to die afterwards is slim to none.

    • If the ticket checker is before the concession stands, instead of me telling I want to get my free refill, I tell the ticket checker (with the r2d2 in a big sporting life shopping bag), that I want to buy popcorn and head back out. I have been successful with that that approach!!!

    • Never had any issues when getting my free refill until today. My Cineplex has the concessions behind the ticket checker. (Modern Cineplex VIP theatres have concession stands available to public.) I told the guy that I wanted to get popcorn and that was it. He checked with staff and they said no.
      To be fair, part of the complication, is the concession location. If you can get past the ticket checker, it's easier to get into theatre afterwards. But worst case, the potential oss in revenue is only for 1 month.

    • Same thing happened to me. I brought my R2D2 to pickering cineplex on friday, which I bought the night before at scotiabank theatre. I was watching Star Wars for the 2nd time. Anyways, the cashier said to show him a receipt, and I gave him a puzzled look and said I dont have one. He said "well you could have just taken one off the shelf there". Thats when I was offended. I looked him square in his eyes and said "dude, I didnt steal the dang thing. I am not a thief. I dont have a receipt, I didnt even get one when I purchased (using a gift card), but if youre so insistent I can show you my bank statement". And he said yes show that to me. It was at that moment the manager noticed this interaction, she jumped in, offered me the popcorn and the drink, and told the cashier he is supposed to honour the refill without a receipt. She was worried things would escalate.
      I've gotten a couple of refills at Pickering and they seem to have hammered out the kinks now (or maybe I got lucky -- I did have the same cashier the last 3 times). Got my popcorn and drink separately without having to show a receipt.

      When I was hunting for an R2-D2, the Pickering location had one left in the VIP section, but it was a demo so it had had popcorn in it. The manager was still willing to sell it to me, but I couldn't get him to go for a floor model discount, lol. I ended up driving over to the Ajax theatre and getting it there.
