View allTab S6, last day of sale
But how I see it is, if you prefer a more mobile oriented, touch based interface, then Tab S6. if your primarily use is content consumption/gaming/connectivity with other Samsung devices first, and then workloads on the side when necessary; then the Tab S6 will be much better suited for you. The design, size, portability, Android, that top class AMOLED screen, quad speakers, etc.
If you're productivity oriented first, then content consumption/gaming as a secondary, then Pixel Slate. It will be better for google services and workflow.
They both will do the same things more or less, but prioritize tasks from opposite ends.
I would have preferred the S6 however I just couldn't justify the price. Like my phones, I'm content buying last year's model. Thank you Op for the insight and to everyone who has provided input to this thread. I'm a happy buyer.
I also use Brave browser which has a built in adblocker (also works on youtube in browser), can permanently request desktop versions of websites, and forces HTTPS for all websites that support it.
They are pretty good for budget tablets. And my 10.1" is still holding up well even a few years later. Definitely recommend. Just make sure to install Nova Launcher on them instead of the crap that samsung uses
Both have been perfectly fine for Youtube and general browsing. For youtube, download Youtube Vanced apk, so you can skip the ads.
Most people won't have that deal, but can still snag these ones at this price. Additional money off with Staples if they have working coupons still.
I don't have any issues with the S6 holding it normally in portrait or landscape. I think once I was able get the signal to drop holding both top corners and have it in my lap so I think they fixed the issue and it is the main reason I got the S6 as I wouldn't touch the S5e again.
Still on the fence though if I will keep the S6. It's nice but not sure I can justfiy spending nearly $800 for something that is a secondary device to my s10+. I had a Fire 10 and that was fine for video but sucked at nearly everythign else which is why I got the S6. Now there is no compromises from an app / speed perspective but it is also $600 more than the Fire.
Just got the s5e myself.

Should work with 10% off again. I'll update the OP.
iOS A12 is good because it's a high end tablet. ipad mini A12 is from $529.
Samsung Tab S is good because it's also a high end tablet, Samsung display and sleek light/thin design is also awesome.
If you like Android then Samsung Tab S won't disappoint you. If you like Apple eco system then go for ipad.
Go for 5Se which is $450 after 10% discount. It's the thinnest and lightest tablet on earth and fast charge with 14 hours battery.
Less power for sure but it's the same beautiful screen.
My 2nd position is that other than iPad, all other iPads (Air, Pro, Mini) all have A12 or better which nothing in Android's ARM processor offerings can touch. Even the SD855+ is 1/3 slower than A12 and only beat A12 by like 1% when all cores fires up.
Yes S6 ($699) does have SD855 (not the + variant) and it's better than Apples's A10 in cheap iPads ($429). But last I check there is also $250 price difference between to 2.
There is a reason why Google has abandoned Android tablets.
At $699 for the S6, and then another $200 or so for the keyboard, you are looking at the price for a pretty decent laptop (last gen Macbook air's are only ~ $500-650) but even with the keyboard and running Dex, the S6 is NOT a replacement for a PC. It isn't a MS Surface competitor, and it doesn't really function as a primary computer, even for just basic use.
I love the form factor and weight of a tablet, but the pricepoint of $699 (and it's on sale!) is a little awkward. The S5e will be easier to swallow imo.
I also found that setting up fingerprints using the pad of your thumb/fingers instead of the upper half/tip works much better for me. The tips of my fingers are generally rough and dry, but the soft pad portion registers really well in comparison.
Not worth the price. Shane on you samsung.
Apply protector and turn on the enhanced touch sensitivity mode or whatever its, called and register the same finger twice. I did this for both thumbs. OR You can register 1 finger up to 4 times. This increases the chances it will scan your finger properly.
Also the glass protectors that use a liquid "glue" and UV light work pretty good. I got mine from Aliexpress.
Looks like not just me https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tab ... d-p/828087
