Opinions on what Black Friday will look like this year

What are your thoughts on which products will get discounted and by how much? I hear that TVs, especially lower end, will see little to no discount.

Not great IMO. So many stock and supply chain issues with nearly every product. Demand>supply unfortunately.

Video game sales are going to be especially mediocre. When something like AC Valhalla still hasn't dropped below $49.99 CAD you know what kind of state the market is in.

Plus there's still a massive dearth in consoles so it's not like they can even push bundles.

Forget Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Christmas is gonna be pretty bleak on the gift giving front

Old Santa may not be able to get his sleigh out of the garage … I hear he’s waiting on overseas parts !

Think in lieu of this … more folks are gonna be turning towards a more traditional Christmas this year

Looking at the non consumerism aspects of the Holidays … the stuff many have missed out on since Christmas 2019 due to Lockdowns and Covid Restrictions on travel, socializing, etc

At least that all looks like it won’t be an issue

So …

Spending time with Friends & Family
Food & Drinks
Etc

Gifts gonna be less of the main event … and more of a side dish

Might be a whole bunch of Korea-made stuff caught up in the fire on the ZIM Kingston. Still apparently smouldering off the coast.
I smile when I see container ships sailing past my house laden with stuff made in China

Black Friday and Boxing Day have diminished so much since the 1990s that they are now no different from any other typical weekend sales event. The only thing I am holding out for is a BYOP cheap carrier plan. But my expectations are low even for that. Nothing to see anymore, folks. Move along.

I was hoping to build a couple of PCs so looking for some discounted parts but I doubt I will be saving much on current prices. This must be crushing some retailers.

My late grandmother who lived in Ukraine use to say they can put a man into space but you can't find a wrench in the hardware store.

Doubt there will be much of blow out sale anywhere. Supply chain has still yet to recover, so there will be no incentive to drop prices low when there's limited stock (to which the retailer would prefer to sell at full MSRP).
Tis banana is IRIE 😎

10% off is cold, 50% off is warm, 75% off is hot, but FREE IS RFD!

Sales will probably be online and it won't be as good as before partially due to supply issues. The old day of lineup for instore won't happen again this year as I'm pretty sure the politicians will plead not to have big sales instore [again].

If there are golfers on here...you'll recall the old days of GolfTown's demo sale which is online only this year again [on Nov 1st]. We used to line up at the store.

Bestbuy still gets the lineups when they announce GPU drops.

Sometimes I swear it's just cheapie no-name kettles, toasters, InstantPots, Monitors, and TVs on sale.
Of course if it's an Amazon sale it's Aliexpress smartphone cases, cables, and power banks.

Lots and lots of talk of supply shortages this Black Friday / Christmas.

haha... too true. That "Epic" sale Amazon has on now looks just like that.

Seriously, my expectations are low.

Perhaps we will see more retailers use more creative tactics, like spend $XXX now, get a $XX "promo card" valid between Jan XX and Feb XX.

Perhaps more of the "savings" will come through rewards programs, like "Triangle Rewards" at the Canadian Tire family of stores.

I don't think there will be many sales for this BF & CM, even Xmas, demand is way over supply, inflation like sky rocket, COVID caused the supply chain unstable, chip shortage for electronics (Anything use chips is suffering). If we have a discount BF week for gas, that will be great.

every year the running joke is that it was the worst BF/BD. I think this year will really live up to that. Minimal door crashers, average discounts, and very limited inventory. When they're saying to do your Christmas shopping today you know retailers will be hard pressed to give out deals.

We started Xmas shopping about 2 weeks ago. This year is going to be brutal stores having stock if you wait much longer. I still can't get on a waiting list for a PS5. I have one but my wife wants one and no one will take my name. I have already started to see an uptick of PS5's on sale on FB marketplace. Last year I got mine thru scalpers, looks like this year might be the same?
