Thread Summary
Do I need a license to fly this drone?
No. Since it weighs <250g, no license is required to fly it in Canada.

Where can I fly it?
You can fly it in most places. That includes cities, over personal property, over crown land (ie. most of the Canadian wilderness), etc. You can't fly this drone:
- In national or provincial parks
- In some municipal or regional parks (check with your local parks authority)
- Over prisons or military bases
- Near airports (there is no hard limit on how close you can get, but stay away from them)

Here's a map that shows many (but not all) of the restrictions. Set the drone size to MICRO in the menu on the left.

What other rules do I need to follow?
Drone use in Canada is covered by the Canadian Aviation Regulations, but most of the rules only apply to drones larger than 250g. The only part of the regulations that apply to drones under 250g, such as the DJI Mini, is
900.06 No person shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft system in such a reckless or negligent manner as to endanger or be likely to endanger aviation safety or the safety of any person.
You do still need to follow other laws regarding privacy, damaging people or property, etc.

Is this a good deal or would the UNiDAYS + Flymore bundle be better?

I'm not aware of any student discounts active for DJI, UNiDAYS or otherwise.

With the DJI Mini 3 on its way (likely within a few months) what’s the going price for a bundle like this typically. I’m new to drone shopping.

So it's basically the Mini 2 (419USD) + one battery (55USD) for 570CAD+tx (ie. 655CAD for QC) instead of 474USD -> 590CAD (no tax/shipping) on DJI's website?
Not saying it's bad, and the Costco warranty might be worth the extra 65 bucks. And I guess it can be cheaper depending on taxes in your province.

I'm a complete clueless nobody when it came to drones but I bought this + the combo at full price last month and I don't even care I've enjoyed the mini 2 so much. The best thing is it doesn't matter where you use it, you can fly regardless of what zone you are in because it is not subject to any stupid regulations. Buy it.

I had just done the comparison and will share:

The diff between DJI Mini2 Flymore Combo (direct) and Costco bundle:
Price (after tax, in CAD at 1.25 exchange rate) $54 (DJI higher)
Difference in items:
1 battery - $68,75
2 Spare Propeller pairs - $30
12 Spare screws ($n/A)
Propeller holder $12.50
Two-way Charging - $48.75
DJI 18W charger - $18.75

Total value of items missing from Flymore: $178.75

Other than the spare battery and perhaps the props, I'm not sure if in would have purchased all of these item on my own. So decide for yourself if it is worth it.

(Note I assumed no HST on DJI purchase but HST on the Costco bundle. If this is no longer the case, then i can revise the figures).

costco deal has the bag as well which is 39usd, so total is 513USD->640CAD on DJI's website.
If you don't need the extra accessory for the combo option from DJI's website, this is a good deal.

There are restrictions for these drones, too, but fewer than larger drones

https://nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool/

Select micro drone from the menu on the left side of the map to see the restrictions.

May also take into consideration how much of an upgrade the mini 3 would be?

I'm also new to drones and was planning to pick up the mini 2 as my first drone after watching a bunch of reviews. Hoping for a slight price drop once the mini 3 drops.

Anyone know roughly how much the original mavic mini dropped in price after the mini 2 was announced?

I'm sure the mini 3 will have some nice features like obstacle avoidance and follow me. Lets see how much they price it.

I used to own a bugs drone and have been out of drones for awhile.

There's a place at Pacific Mall that sells the Mini SE fly more for $440. How does these compare? Any help really appreciated. Thanks.

Ya I'm going to wait, been eyeing this up for a few months, what's another month. Either the 3 is worth it, or this will be at most this price again to sell out old stock.

The mini SE looks appealing at that price since it has most of the mini 2's components (minus the 4K Camera, the new remote and Occusync)

The main reason I'm holding off from the mini SE is because of the range issues I saw in the reviews. Especially if you're around buildings etc... Enhanced wifi just wont cut it.

It's $560 in store. Saw it by the entrance at the Newmarket Costco. Plenty of stock available.

I have the original Mini, got the fly-more combo a few years ago on Black Friday. The extra batteries are a must if you take it out for a day. I'm very impressed with this drone, and can't wait for the 3 as I'd upgrade for the better camera. I wish it had a "follow me" feature, and there is some 3rd party software you can get that apparently has that, but I got used to the DJI app. The footage is stunning and the stability is incredible. You need to be comfortable with video editing though (as with any video), as watching raw footage is supremely boring.

I suspect that once the Mini 3 comes out, they will have a deal to clear out the 2.
