    • Anyone have any idea when they might drop the price again? Unfortunately I didn't pull the trigger. Just wondering if I should wait or take my chances at $310 from Amazon Warehouse Deals

    • Well I bought one off Amazon earlier and received it today. However, I noticed it come back in stock at Costco online a couple of days ago so I purchased another from there. To my surprise, I didn’t get charged taxes for the purchase, and given that I got the “shipped” email, I think that I actually managed to get these for $350 all in ($308+tax).

    • There is a risk buying from them that you will get a used headset, or worse, get a xm3 pretending to be a xm4. There are 2 victims in this thread already.
I bought from Amazon and it was shrink wrapped, sure there is risk I suppose but I can always return it - though not everyone would want to go through the trouble. I understand where you are coming from though

I'm assuming buyer's remorse, the ones I saw were used

    • They're already in Canada. I've been seeing quite a few on Facebook market for below retail.

    • sony products price seems to be more elastic then others. if a product is in demand or getting great reviews, the price seems to stick closer to msrp. the new
airpods max are getting even better reviews than these. maybe when they hit canada the sonys will get cheaper. just a thought.

    • I've experienced a crackle in my right earphone when using during Skype and Teams calls. None of my other headphones do this in the same scenario, so I'm returning these.
Still on the fence on whether to give a new pair a try or to sit this one out for now.
did some research before buying and a lot of people complain of the same issue which seems to be caused by moisture buildup inside the earphone. I'd avoid this model for now .

    • So I’m guessing for open headsets, Amazon is the only option now? I just want to test how the noise canceling is compared to my Beats Studio 3 and see if it’s worth getting.
I've compared both. The NC in the XM4 blows the studio 3's out of the water. Well, it does in all areas but speaking to the NC specifically.

It's interesting that you have a cracking/popping sound - I have it in the left ear cup. Bought from The Source, over 45 days ago, just noticed. Probably too late to return/exchange in the store.
I noticed it mostly when watching quieter TV shoes/movies. I think it was in the twisty part of the band and transferred into the ear cup if my head wasn't completely still. Otherwise seemed like great headphones.

    • Btw, do these have a humming noise during noise cancellation mode when music isn’t playing?

    • Got them at $250 thanks to a voucher. Comfort wise I still prefer QCII, but XM4 beats it on most other aspects!
Agreed with above. Prefer the Bose QCII for comfort, and ease of speedy connectivity to my Apple devices. XM4 is slower in this respect and I have to fiddle with the Sony app more often on the phone to ensure it connects seamlessly.

    • Can anyone tell me if these can still use bluetooth when plugged into a xbox/playstation controller? My current pair turns off the bluetooth when plugged in.

It's worth a shot once they reopen (dont know if there is a lockdown in alberta). If not you can always ask Sony for a replacement.

    • I just returned mine to Best Buy as they were defective (cracking and popping sound from right ear). I realize Best Buy doesn't normally take open box returns on headphones but in this case they did with no issue. I wanted to do an exchange but they said I'd have to return and rebuy.

    • Amazon is easier for me - as I do not drive, so mailing something back to amazon is just a short walk to the post office and printing of the return label.

    • I would say costco, easier to return from what I hear here. I would avoid Amazon.

    • Sad to hear, you are the 2nd one in this thread to have this happened. I would definitely not recommend buying high price tech stuff from amazon to avoid shitty stuff like this. Hope you can get this sorted out asap.
I didn't realize I was the second! I dug back and found the first instance (page 16 with 40 posts/page, from HarryLe) and he mentioned the nameplate being changed to say XM4--I don't recall seeing a name plate anywhere else on the headphones and attached photos no longer work, does anyone know what he was referring to?

    • Heck, maybe it's the same pair that was returned and *sent again* to another unsuspecting customer, now that'd be a story of legends.
Carve your initials on the underside for the next RFDer who gets the “brand new” pair of headphones. Brotherhood of the Travelling XM3s

    • After a bunch of research, the UGO gift card offer got me to bite on ordering a pair of XM4s from Amazon.

They arrived last night looking like refurbs--the plastic wrap on the outside was damaged/torn so the side of the box was open already but I thought whatever, maybe someone at the warehouse just got a little rough. But they looked new enough and there was no signs of tampering, so everything checked out--until I paired them. Model indicated on screen was WH-1000XM3.

Only then did I take a closer look at the headphones themselves, and saw "WH-1000XM_". The 4 (well, actually 3) was literally rubbed or scratched off.

Someone bought a pair of XM4s, swapped them with a pair of XM3s (after rubbing off the number), then returned them to Amazon as new. Good job *******, I hope you enjoy your $50 upgrade--now I have to deal with returning these and finding another pair because Amazon is sold out of new ones.

Extra annoyed because Amazon shouldn't have sent me returned/open box products in the first place considering I bought new ones.
