    • Rakuten may be better on boxing day.

Also not sure but you may be able to use a unidays coupon or email newsletter signup for 10%. Unsure if email newsletter is available right now but they turn it on fairly often.

Last but not least you can sometimes talk to sales and they can give you a better deal. Just be careful on them adding things you don't want. Like warranty.
well, i guess thats it.. rakuten was 10%, but the build prices on Dell for boxing day was absolutely horrible. Kind of sucks, was really going to see if can pickup another similar priced machine that I got it for, for my cousin. Too bad so sad.

So the Ryzen build on liquid cooling, I really have no issues with the fan noise at all. I did pick up 2 noctua a12x25, I may eventually replace ( not to solve noise issue, but I want to compare if the fans will make the temperatures drop even lower ). But if it ends up making it quieter, but thermal not as good as stock, I may revert back to stock fans and only add 1 noctua in the hard drive bay as an extra air intake.

It is a bit sad, but no matter how much people's postings I've found on reddit, majority of people replaced with corsair ml120 pro or noctua without even comparing original temperatures. Most of them just replaced it as soon as they got the machine due to hearing how jet turbine the fans sounded like. They only focused on the noise, personally I am more focused on the thermals. The noise is not even an issue for me at all and honestly my fans never run close to max, usually 40-60% is where it sits. Especially after downvolting the GPU, it already made the entire alienware casing temperature drop by a significant amount and my stock turbine fans never really take off to loud levels when comparing with running stock mode settings/arrangement.

CPU on the other hand, in general runs cool, I die between 35-40 but idle temps to me is useless. I only care about under load temperatures. I can't figure out how to down volt it , since bios doesn't have negative offset option, ryzen master would require you to hard set clock speeds which isn't entirely what I want to achieve. The Ryzen temperatures has periodic 'bursts/spikes'. It is a "Ryzen" thing, for temperature spikes. I think they designed it to take as much voltage and do periodic spikes to handle short running threads if it calculates that there is enough thermal room to do so safely. It is a bit annoying, but I wouldn't say my CPU is overheating at all. I would be gaming at CPU would be at 60-65, but all of sudden you may see it a burst up to 70-75 because it decides to and then in few seconds time back to 60-65 range. If you play around with the power processor settings in windows, like set to power saving mode, 99% for max processor, you may not see the spikes, but then your cpu is capped at 3600mhz and doesn't boost at all... This is a "Ryzen by design thing" so physically it is not overheating, just that I am nitpicking. Possibly if my CPU temperature that I choose to display is the 'average cpu temperature' instead of tdie/tctl ( which is usually used by processor fans and possibly intentionally shows higher due to some offset being added so the fans have enough time to spin up ), I may not see these spikes as a problem at all.

    • Only thing now is the bios for some reason doesn't show overclocking functions. I am looking in trying to undervolt my CPU.. Ryzen master doesn't support or have option to undervolt by offset ( unless I can't find it)
    • ok, so seems like 0.825v, the stable clockspeed is 1845mhz ( since you must take account for it's ability to auto boost ).

ran stress timespy/port royal and was stable.

People can use that as a guideline when undervolting your rtx 3080.
    • And just for reference for rtx 3080. 0.825v at 1800mhz clockspeeds runs at around 59 to 60 degrees celsius.

The boxing week prices for the Alienwares are so terrible... I am glad we bought our machines, I am not sure if the black Friday prices will be coming back or not for those that missed the original sale.
For everyone that got a 3080 system under 2k I think dell is actually losing money or barely making any.

I just checked today and the 3080 isn't even an option for most ryzen builds and seems to be only on the more expensive intel builds.

I'm very exited to get this system. I may even pull the 3080 and build a new intel system in the summer and sell this off with a 2nd hand 2060 ko.

I sold my old 7700k 1080ti system for 1200 and it sold fast. Knowing what I got this system for I felt bad if I would of charged more.

    • Sounds good. Yeah when ever I build a new pc I usually spend about two days dialing in overclocks and undervolts. Something I enjoy.

This will be my first time attempting it in an AMD system. Looking forward to it.

    • Well lucky my brother just got his retail Asus rtx 3080 TUF edition.

Obviously our 2 fan card cannot much compare to his temperatures.. But clock speeds are same as typical other cards.

For the fans.. If you are not crazy about turbine sound they are fine as it is. I am still impressed overall with how well the stock fans can cool. It's your GPU that will easily be the one that has loud fan while gaming.

If temperature is a problem.. Try undervolt the 3080. Cuts down the temperature by a lot and they really seem to be able to undervolt quite well.

The CPU itself.. Other than the famous but normal Ryzen temperature spikes /turbo boost related, runs cool in general...

      For example.
      Overwatch, 1440p at 164hz
Originally i had temperatures of up to 73 degrees for rtx 3080 and CPU temperatures usually at 62-65 degrees but periodically does ryzen spikes with temperatures going into the 70s ( still well below 95 Celsius)

Undervolt the rtx 3080. At 0.825v, 1905mhz clockspeed. Temperature is at 66 degrees Celsius. But I think this is YMMV depending on your cards lottery..

    • Nope mine is suppose to be here in the new year.

I've read a lot of owner complaints about the fans. Just like you said. A lot upgrade the case fans to noctua NF-A12x25 or corsair ml120 pro non rgb.

Apparently this helps a lot with noise. I decided to wait myself to see how bad it is.

I did order a new ram kit for it though and some sata ssds.

How does your 3080 compare in benchmarks to other 3080s?

    • Did you get your order yet? I got mine couple days ago.

The chassis fans "can" sound like turbines, but I sort of find it amusing because the case itself looks like a jet engine turbine, and it can sound like one too. But in general use, you won't have too much trouble with the chassis fan unless you start gaming. However, I sort of think the RTX3080 ( which is probably same for RTX3090 ) fan is a lot more noticeable while gaming than the chassis fans themselves.

Same here, tried once and used the advice of some users in this thread. I contacted support via chat one week after placing the order, and told them I was having second thoughts about the purchase and asked about changing the cooling options and CPU, and what I would need to do to cancel. The rep actually asked me if I wanted to cancel without saying anything else lol

Only time I had to reach out to Rakuten is to get them to change the rebate % from 2% to 8% to 10% which they manually did.

The Alienware site seems to be a little misleading... When i ordered mine the picture showed it was the light case, it turns out its the dark case, for some reason the ram is only single channel and the site seems to imply that the CPU is liquid cooled when it is in fact very poorly air cooled (which it sounds like it should not be).

Taking into account the rebates and cash back, the final cost should be just under $2200 all in. Its a pretty decent price for a 10th gen i7 and RTX 3080 PC.

That being said, I've always been a build my own PC kind of guy and I'm starting to have second thoughts...
Havenโ€™t had any hands-on experience with the Alienware as i normally build my own, but the website seemed pretty straightforward when I placed my order. When configuring the order, its very clear which colour you are selecting, the PSU, and cooling method. Also the ram selection is very clear on which is dual channel as it is labelled.
