    • Creator mode looks awful to me, I don't know why people keep jumping immediately to it.

      Anyway, on the monitor I'm running Standard, TrueBlack, Console mode off. On the software side, Win11, Dell driver/ICC installed, HDR on, Auto HDR on. It's too bright for desktop apps, so I've been switching out of HDR, but only because I haven't had the time to properly set SDR brightness. On the videocard and driver side, I run a 3070 Ti, set a custom resolution of 3440x1440, 144Hz, 10-bit, CVT-RB within the nVidia control panel, VRR is on and confirmed working using the game enhance framerate display.

      All things considered, it looks great to me. A *massive* improvement in color, contrast and smoothness versus my older 60Hz IPS U3419W.

    • The monitor's "smart HDR" setting made it think it was still in HDR after quitting an HDR game. That's why it was all greyed out.

      Yeah, that's my experience with the monitor, as well. Setting Console Mode to "On" looks good, but I guess it's not accurate.

    • What settings are we using? I just got mine and I tried rtings and neowin settings with srgb colour space, but standard looks so good.

      Settings also keep getting greyed out for no reason.
      Many of the settings I tried don't seem to look as great as I expected. The settings for brightness/contrast is greyed out if you are in HDR just like on TVs.

      I am thinking maybe the aw3423dw setttings don't work that great on the dwf. I currently have Creator>sRGB+Gamma 2.4, which is a popular one recommended for the dw, brightness 40, contrast 75. I also had to fiddle a lot with my icc profiles to get the colors "right". Colors looked all wrong with the Alienware provided icc, I had to uninstall all the old icc I had on my system and just run the default Windows sRGB one. Hoping Rtings, tftcentral or those big names review the dwf version. I usually have no issues just copying their settings and icc.

      It is 2022. Where "4k" OLED ultrawides with a high response rate do not exist.

      This is a braindead take. Akin to "4k IPS? No thanks. It is 2022." I'm not even going to get into the extra horsepower it takes to run ultrawides closer to "4k" resolutions.

      This is one of the most sought after monitors on the market, and with good reason. Specs beyond just the resolution.

    • Got mine. Amazing colors . Unfortunately, did not get the cashback because Honey hijacked the affiliate link even though I've accepted Rakutens offer. It did that for 2 orders over 1.2k 😭

      Lesson learned: Make sure you disable Honey if you're buying using cashback offers.

    • Just bought mine. I got the $140 off for a total of $1259.99 + tax. What a steal for the DWF version.

      I'm going to use it until 240Hz 4K QD-OLED comes out. LG has one coming and so does MSI apparently, but I'm actually pretty good with gaming at 1440p instead of 4K for the next year or two.

      Only the RTX 40 cards really give the best experience right now for 4K gaming (FPS retainment is nuts).

      Of course you can wait for Oled and 4k but the price then....😲
      Maybe in 3-5 years we will get 4k and oled at an affordable price. In the mean time, this is the best screen you can have.

    • Got it, fringing was immediately noticeable, but I think I've already gotten used to it (after using the cleartype tool in windows). First day actually working all day with it (going from a 40" 4K 16:9 monitor), so far so good.

      The monitor itself is amazing. Colours are amazing, the motion handling is amazing. I do not have any noticeable colour fringing at a reasonable viewing distance. I basically need to be inches away from the panel to notice the defects.

      Can anyone update on what firmware version they are receiving. My panel reports firmware M0B201 which I can not find any info on online.

      Yes but the aliasing used to mitigate this in modern operating systems is not designed for the pixel layout QD-Oleds use. For fine detailed graphic design work this can be an issue. Hopefully Microsoft, Apple etc will add additional aliasing options for these types of monitors in the future.
