    • How do you do this? Pay for mobile order at drive thru window?

When I add the offer to the mobile order, I need to choose payment method to place order.
Well, not a mobile order, bad choice in wording there. The $1 coffee is in the offers, just have them scan the QR code at the window instead of doing an actual mobile order.

    • I know people that mine the stickers ... and they don't even drink coffee. They just like stickers. It's a product of the 80's educational system ..

Hey, is the mickey d's app okay nowadays? Or is it still a problem with being hacked etc? Since those stories in the last few years about bad things with the app i've not installed it. Hopefully they've stabilized it.
I like their coffee and collect stickers. I don't trust the app enough to add my credit card. However I have an account and show them the QR code before paying and collect the digital sticker.

    • Personally I don't put my card in the app either because I have no faith it's completely safe if they weren't capable enough to secure it the first time. You can still do a mobile order and go through the drive-thru to pay like normal, just give them the mobile order number at the intercom.

    • Is there a way to order more than 1 coffee at a time for a dollar? Its only allowing me one offer per order.
During the order/customization process, I have an option to specify quantity prior to adding to my "bag". Once in my "bag", there's also a drop-down option to change the Qty. Don't you have those?? I've ordered 2 at a time on a few occasions this week.

No need to add the offer -- just order from the menu like any other item.

    • I only go to Tims during the contest period. Perfectly logical.

Nope. They collect them for me. Coffee sticker mining.
I go through garbage cans for stickers. You’re lucky.

    • If you only go out for free coffees, you said you bought 25 coffees during the contest period. Did you steal or win the money for those 25 coffees?

And for your coworkers McDonald’s cups, do you go through the garbage for them?

      >November was free A&W coffee (App) all month for me.
      >I get ~30 free McD's coffees a year by collecting the stickers from all my coworkers who seem to not give a damn about them even though it is a form of currency, each sticker has about a $0.29 value. This is a $60 value and I don't use the freebies if $1 coffees are active.
      >Circle K gave me about 4 or 5 free coffees with their coupons.
      >During Tim's roll up the rim (Covid edition) I bought a total of 25 coffees during the contest period. I won 8 free coffees.

Otherwise I use instant coffee if in a pinch and/or Keurig if at home.

You can use it unlimited times per day during the offer period.

Read the offer. I used it once and when I refreshed, it came back.

    • I haven't tried adding KOHO to the McD's app, but why not add your KOHO to your mobile wallet (e.g. ApplePay or GooglePay) and then pay using mobile wallet when using the McD's app? That way you can pick whatever card of your choosing at the time of purchase, and also de-risks storing your credit card info on McD's servers.
      Don't know how 😭

      I use android now.

    • Pretty disappointed at mcdonald's coffee in the last year or two. I was a huge fan of their original drip coffee when they debuted but something has changed in recent years. It no longer tastes the same. I rather go to indie coffee shops and pay more than drink that stuff even at a dollar per cup.

I usually drink black or with 2 cream, never with sugar.

Why do people take the time to drive to McDonald's and sit in the drive-thru line for 5 or more minutes?
before covid, i noticed that many seniors took advantage of this great deal by ordering the $1 coffee and sitting inside the mcd, chatting about the grandkids and other topics that seniors discuss. it's a socialization thing. that was pre-covid

    • Breaking news: stuff made at home is cheaper than stuff made at restaurant!
That's not what I was getting at. I understand the concept of going to a restaurant to get a meal. But making a trip to McDonald's *just* for a $1 coffee doesn't make much sense. There's nothing special about brewed coffee and it's quite possible to make basically the same thing at home in about 3 minutes.

    • I genuinely don't understand the appeal of $1 coffee from a fast food place. I just made a cup of coffee in my kitchen (it's usually the first thing I do in the morning after letting the cats out of the garage). The effort required was absolutely minimal; I use a drip filter so there isn't really anything to clean beyond a quick rinse. It cost me about $0.10 and I used real cream and sugar.

Why do people take the time to drive to McDonald's and sit in the drive-thru line for 5 or more minutes? That "$1" drink is costing you 10 or 20 minutes of your day plus the cost of fuel to detour to McD's.

Your right. It tastes significantly darker to me now. Or may be it's just burnt. This started happening around 2 months back. I think they changed there blend for the worst in competition from A&W.

Its not about effort - its about having a reason get out of the house and seeing human other than those in your household.

      1) I drive by 2 McD on my way to work.
      2) It rarely takes 5 mins or more to clear the DT line. Tim's and McD's have prioritized their DT to be faster than walk in.

For me I don't go out of my way to get to a McD's, but will grab a coffee or two at $1 if I'm nearby for the convenience (ordering ahead in the app, and going through the Drive-Thru, it's rarely more than about 2-3 minutes of my time). If/when I make my own coffee, it's probably closer to $0.30-0.40 for the equivalent volume (XL), since cream (18%, which I think is equivalent to what McD's and Timmy's uses) is typically around $3-4/L (sometimes SDM has it for $1.99/L). Whether I make my own coffee, though, depends largely on whether I have cream in the fridge...

Depending on where you live I think part of it might have to do with the lack of commuters and office workers buying coffee. So when you do get a cup it's more likely that it's just been sitting there for a while.

I've found their coffee to be hit and miss lately as well. One that I got in Cochrane tasted like tepid water and one from a Calgary location was rich and delicious.
