Here's a great offer from Ampli! If you haven't heard of Ampli, it's a free cash back app, powered by RBC, that helps all Canadians (you don't need to have an RBC account) get rewarded for their everyday purchases -- online and in-store! New users can get $13 cash back by simply completing the following steps:

  • Download the Ampli app
  • Use code RFD13 by November 30
  • Connect your debit or credit cards
  • Make a minimum $25 purchase (online or in-store) from Sobeys, Walmart Canada, Loblaw Companies, Lowe's (includes Lowe's, Rona and Réno-Dépôt) or The Source by December 31

The $13 cash back reward will be added to your Ampli account balance within five business days of making your qualifying purchase.

*Use code RFD13 to sign up for Ampli for the first time between November 16 and November 30, 2020 (“Offer Period”) to unlock a one-time use $13 cash back offer (“Offer”) to use by December 31, 2020 on a minimum $25 purchase with an Ampli-connected card directly from any one of the following merchants (“Select Merchants”): Sobeys Capital Incorporated, Walmart Canada Corp., Loblaw Companies Limited, Lowe's Companies, Inc., and The Source (Bell) Electronics Inc. (each a “Qualifying Purchase”). Offer is earned on the final price of your Qualifying Purchase including tax. Offer does not apply to purchases made through any food delivery or third party service. Offer is for new Ampli members only. An Ampli member may only take advantage of Offer if it is presented in that member’s app. This single use code cannot be combined with other Ampli codes. Offer cannot be applied retroactively to previous purchases. Returns may cancel or reduce the Offer in your Ampli account. RBC Ampli Inc. may cancel or modify this Offer at any time. Select Merchant, not RBC Ampli Inc., is responsible for all sales, returns and conditions applicable to your Qualifying Purchase. Other applicable terms and conditions are set out in the “Legal” section of the Ampli app.

    • Anybody have this issue? I signed up. Code works. I linked multiple bank accounts and as soon as I relink one of them that had security issue. Ampli becomes deactivated. I tried logging into the account on another device and it’s same thing. Removing the app or restarting the phone doesn’t help. The chat response time is in 2days?!? Does this happen often?

    • Maybe it helps that I don't bank at CIBC or Cdn Tire and those are the cards that I linked.
icic... don't want to bother opening dummy accounts just for this purpose. thx for the info thou!

    • how did you just link a credit card without bank account first? I just downloaded the app but it seems like you must link a debit card... I think I will be deactivating my registration

      not worth the risk IMO

    • Like everyone else, I never trust giving away my online banking login credentials. In this case, Ampli is a product of RBC so I only linked my RBC accounts and the risk of misuse should be low.

    • I didn't give them access to my debit card, just a credit card. For one thing, I very rarely use a debit card, so there would be no useful transactions on it.

    • I'm not going to defend Ampli, because granting access to your banking information is serious business with troubling implications and everyone should make their own informed decision there.

I have made around $110 in five months using it, without really going out of my way to do so, mostly through Boston Pizza, a couple of gift orders from Mastermind and Chapters, and a few of their special offers for online purchases and whatnot. The customer service has been ok, and I've only had to chase them for cash back a couple of times.

I have tried to set it up so that it only scrapes data from my Tangerine credit card and not all of my bank accounts. However, they seem to have removed the ability to do this, maybe for technical reasons, maybe not. It would be nice to be able to link it to my PC MasterCard.

My personal feeling is that so many companies are using my credit card purchase data already that granting one more bank access to it doesn't bother me. But I have a support ticket in asking why I can't delink my chequing and savings accounts from it, because that does bother me.
I just unlinked my td cc and chequing. I had to either unlink both accounts or no accounts so I opted for the former. I'll just add the cc back in.

Thx for reminder that my chequing is still linked.

    • Thanks, I missed that.
      So IGA is probably included.

But I still worry about granting access to my debit card (main bank account) with a password access. I shudder at the thought of Ampli getting hacked, giving access to my bank account and ME having to navigate between RBC and my bank to get MY money back.

IMO, the risk is not worth cash back money.

    • The original post says Sobeys, Loblaws, Walmart. Which is for this promotion ONLY.

    • My biggest complaint is that my CIBC credit card constantly gets disconnected and can be difficult to re-link. It is in that status at the moment. OTOH, my Canadian Tire card (aka Triangle) has been no problem at all.

If you receive (and read) their emails, there are special promotions, usually every Tuesday (I think). They are currently doing a week of special promotions; but so far NADA (at least for me).

I did get $31 from them recently, painless deposit to my non-linked bank account.

Like the above psoter, I've made $46 in the last month just linking my CC, mostly from Amazon and gas purchases.

    • Gotten over $50 from them in the last two months. Support is terrible though.

There is a fundamental flaw with the app where if your transaction doesn’t post before the promo is over, you will not get your cashback. This necessitates me contacting them to manually apply the credit. Opened up a chat last Tuesday and still waiting for a response.

    • I signed up under the the last promo they ran few months ago ($10) I think and never get their special promos, even after attaching several different credit/bank cards. Also their support is via bot most of the time and I've never received any support response from a human.
Just sharing my feedback, ymmv and may just get all their promos.

    • Link your Debit card to Ampli i.e. let RBC know everything that's going on in your bank account.

Increase the risk of hackers accessing your bank account.

The cash back is not something like 1.5% on everything you buy but just set offers at participating merchants that I would never do business with anyway or extremely rarely.

      No thanks.
